Reply from Viet_Tran on Jan 5 at 12:22 PM Dear Kiran: I confirm your additional information below. In the world of business, you must be able to think in the market given conditions, should you want to succeed. In your case of "5+ years in mainframe" experience, it clearly commits you to stick with it. If you think that the effort to "perfect" (too) many "sub skills" is burdensome, then you are correct. One of the acceptable conclusions therefore is to identify up to two areas of your chosen interest based on your knowledge and personal preference. Afterward be consequent and you will have a chance to succeed which is real. (Can you imagine yourself being a beginner in ABAP who consequently must start from scratch?) Regards, Viet Tran

Maybe my question and writing were vague. Sorry for that. I am interested in development and my perception is that learning ABAP would be of some help. I think learning ABAP alone would suffice to survive in SAP but where as in Mainframe it has too many sub skills, which are to be mastered. Rather putting efforts in multiple sub skills, I would go put whole brain in one skill. With this I can concentrate on lone subject and which leads to good exposure. Please advise.
