If you have been in IT for any length of time we all will find ourselves having to start fresh at some point. I spent 10 years doing COBOL before I moved into SAP. There was a company implementing SAP and I had experience in the system that they were converting away from. They needed someone to write extract programs from the old system and they trained me in ABAP to load data into the new system. Never let anyone tell you that you do not have experience, we all are beginners at some point. If I can make the transition anyone can.

If have technical inclination and background go for technical module like Basis, ABAP. BI etc. For functional module you should have functional domain background and inclination.
