Hi, I understand your concerns about the Integra Suite and, while this product may be very good, SAP it is not. It is like many other ERP products that you can find in the market now such as LX-ERP - an open-source product you can download for free. All very good in their way but all taking you away from the SAP field and therefore off your chosen career path towards becoming an SAP consultant. So my advice would be to say "Thanks, but no thanks". A successful SAP consultant can explore such by-ways later when he has the time and leisure to do so and may even make a sideline out of them, but right now you need to stay focused until you have achieved your first goals. The demands of any application support role are similar so you should be able to get into SAP support, and if you are not being successful at getting in maybe you have to re-think your approach, re-draft your CV, take some counseling on what you are doing wrong and why you are not getting the desired results. There is demand in the market for support staff and I see job ads every day, so maybe you are not looking in the right places. Try Linkedin. Network with people and join some SAP groups on the website, so you get mailings with job offers (this applies to many others as well as yourself - I see jobs for people without experience for example to work as trainees and yet many people come on this forum and bemoan the lack of such jobs). The jobs are there and you have to find them or let them find you. Register with specialist agencies and send them an updated CV every time you change it. (I update my CV about once a month at the moment but this will fall off if I get into a long-term role). Agents will market you if they are convinced that you have saleable skills so talk to them, tell them what you can do. Sell yourself to them and they will sell you. That is what I do and it has paid off because I am now well-known as an expert consultant. Keep working on building your reputation as someone who knows what he is talking about and does not talk rubbish, and ALWAYS be polite and friendly to agents because you want them to remember you as the guy to call when they have the right job for you. Regards, Roy

Hi Guys, I am an accountant with a good few years of SAP domeian experience and would like to work as SAP consultant eventually. I got the advice to go for SAP Application Support-type roles first and I keep on doing just that. So far - obviously - I haven't been successful. Now I have been asked if I would consider applying for a job where the essence of the role is " to provide application support for the Integra Suite of Packages". I have google-d this system, but can not interpret the results, so I am asking for your kind help on this. What do you - as experts - think, would that job help me in any significant way in reaching my ultimate goal OR would it mean that I would spend a good few years without SAP and would be in a worse position afterwards than I am now? (At least I am working with SAP every day in my current job...) Your help would be much appreciated as the other features of the job (ie location etc) suit me fine. Thanks and kind regards, Kate_ | | __.____._ Copyright © 2011 Toolbox.com and message author. Toolbox.com 4343 N. Scottsdale Road Suite 280, Scottsdale, AZ 85251 | | Roy B SAP Career Enthusiast
