•     Full concepts of Monitoring and Alerting solutions and use cases
•     Unix command line and Unix tools. 
•     System administra tion experience.

• Ganglia  (gmond, gmetad)  or any other Metric gathering method.
• RRDtool or any other time series file storage solution.  
• Monit
• Splunk (log searches)
• Graphite
• Rundeck (script running daemon)
• Riemann (clojure) alerting
• Python
• Shell scripting
• Git
