You are perfectly positioned to start with SAP at this point. You will be able to relate the Quality Management (QM) concepts from your real world experience to the material as you learn the many options for how to configure Quality Management in SAP. You might be able to apply to a company right now, without SAP certification, and have the new company pick up the tab for your training. In the United States, this happens all the time. The primary task of a functional consultant is to talk to the customer and figure out how their processes work, then map that to the various options within SAP (suggesting improvements when possible). Since you've worked in the field, you'll be able to "talk the talk" with the customer, you'll be able to speak their language, much better than a kid right out of college. Learning how to configure the SAP software is the easy part. Knowing, really knowing, how an industry works is much more important. I recommend contacting consulting companies if you're interested in being a consultant, or customers who have SAP implemented if you're interested in working for an end customer. Sell your real world experience and see if the consulting company or customer company will pick up the training tab. As one of the others posted, there are not too many folks in the QM field, so you might find someone willing to hire you based on your experience who is willing to invest in your training. Best of luck! --Thomas
