SAP Basis is correct but somewhat old school. You will also see the term SAP Netweaver Administrator. It means the same thing as SAP Basis, but is a newer term for the same thing. The most common first step certification is C_TADM51_70 SAP Certified Technology Associate - System Administration (Oracle DB) with SAP NetWeaver 7.0 although any of the similar ones with different databases are equivalent. C_TADM53_70: SAP Certified Technology Associate - System Administration (MS SQL DB) with SAP NetWeaver 7.0 is often a good first choice as well. http://www.sap.com/services/education/certificatio n/certificationfinder.epx# Try this with the filters: SAP Netweaver, Administration - General, Technology. Be advised that while this is the closest to your request and your background prepares you for this route, if you *really* enjoy the networking world, SAP may not be the best route for you. Being an SAP Administrator is more similar to being an OS admin (for example, Unix admin). You spend the vast majority of your time doing administration within the SAP application and if there is a network problem, you refer it to the network specialists . Typically during a first time implementation you advise the network team in very broad terms about the impact SAP will have on the network, but then that aspect of the implementation is handled by the network group. Hope this helps, --Tom
