Dear rosahnsameer:

I wished to reply to you earlier because I do not want you to wait for the response to your request.

On the title of your request you state: "[sap-career] From non-IT domain to SAP FI". And in the body of your letter you provide that you are "a Software Project Manager" and you "have more than 4 years of experience of managing websites, facebook apps etc. flash games, iphone and android apps". Normally, it is difficult (if it is not impossible) for a person of non-IT domain to be a "Software Project Manager".
If this is true that you are non-IT person, it will be difficult for you to be successful with SAP in general and SAP BI (SAP Netweaver Business Warehouse) in particular. SAP BI expects you to be able to understand not only what SAP is but the specific knowledge regarding Business Process. It will take, every other thing begin equal, a number of years until the time arrives for you to be successful assuming that the luck is on your side and you work hard consistently.

If you cannot justify the reason for leaving the domain where you are a person with marketable capacity in the field(er) that are familiar and comfortable to you, the suggestion is that you stay where you are. Breaking into a strange domain (SAP Netweaver Business Warehouse) to you (a non-IT person) is not a decision that does not need a good planning and preparation. It will cost you time (measured in years), money (a lot, measured up to ten of thousands US dollars or more) and nerve (in some cases: too much to bear and to justify).

If you mind is set that you want to decorate yourself with SAP, no one can stop you and certainly you will be successful (because your mind is set). And you can be proud of yourself that at least once in your life time you dare to spring into the cold (untested) water and you are successful. (We all live only one life, why not do what we are convinced to do! The SAP founders have quitted the secured job at IBM to follow their way to create the SAP. They could stay with IBM until their golden retirement!)

Subject: From non-IT domain to SAP FI

Hi Viet,

I am a regular reader of all these SAP posts. Your message was fantabulous
not for me but for other guys intending to make SAP as career. I am a
Software Project Manager and work at social media agency. I have more than 4
years of experience of managing websites, facebook apps when Facebook
started, flash games, iphone and android apps.

I want to make SAP BI as my career, going to complete PMP certification. Can
you suggest me how should I start with;

Either try to find a job as intern in any company that runs SAP which is
very difficult

OR

I should take a SAP course first then do search jobs?

I will really appreciate your guidance.

Thanks,
Umair
