1) you most of all need a thorough knowledge of SQL
2) you next most need a thorough knowlegde of Database theory
3) OO programming is now fully entrenched in SAP, so be sure you fully
understand it
4) Java is really nice to have
5) If the option presents its self, become certified in SAP ABAP (note how
far down the priority list this is)

Some other valuable points:

Find a local company with a full IT staff for SAP. Get an intern position
(even if you have to pay them to do so). Without experience specifically in
SAP ABAP, you will go no where.

If you can get 5 solid years of ABAP on your resume, you are a made man!
You may have to sell your self cheap to get there. However, once you've
gotten the credentials and really good references, you are Golden!. I
rarely see jobs out there even asking for people with more than 5 years of
ABAP.

HELLO Guys,

I am currently pursuing an Master degree in Computer Science . I like programming so after my Post graduation i wish to pursue a career in SAP as an ABAP programmer.

In the mean time i wish to pursue a course which would be an added advantage for SAP career

like for example, ABAP+PHP? or ABAP+Java? or any?

Please guide me through this?
