In a large number of occasion it is said decisively and repeatedly that the career for SAPer is promising, not only at the current time but in a foreseeable future. And all the facts of the world market indicate strongly that it is. On the reverse side of the token: No one is recommended on this forum to (abruptly or un-planned or unsuitably planned) leave the hard earned career of any other nature to pursuit a potential career with SAP.

Applied to your case:
Fifteen (15) long years is a long time and you have done all the rights areas that create high demand for themselves. Still until today, DBA of Oracle is still one of the strong backbones of any (large) SAP system. I assume that you are able to fulfill the obligation of a DBA or Oracle. This should be enough for you to continue and if the wish to deal with SAP still awakes you in the night, find a suitable way to accomplish it. (Do you have at least one acceptable and follow-able reason why do you want to have anything to do with SAP, on a bottom level at the beginning?)Your professional experience and knowledge of fifteen long years must be in a position to guide you (in an acceptable way) to the point where you want to be.
