Marc has over 20 yrs of IT experience and quite a bit in management already as a IT Manager. You need overall understanding of the system(s) and manage a team of different skills, ability to steer them in the right direction and not an expertise in one particular field. I think management related to Oracle is a better fit than a fresh entry into SAP FI, SD, etc. You max out the "doer" category and nobody gives too much credit after 10-15 yrs in the same category. With globalization and so much people pouring in, you have less of an opportunity at doer's level (if you're starting fresh!) unless you're ready to take a deep cut in your compensation. I don't know whether you have noticed, contract rates even for SAP Professionals have come down a lot except for the very few top notch! That's my feeling! It's for Marc to digress and choose the best for him. Regards! Jay

What is the reason behind your perception that management would suit him better than functional? Regards, Mathew | | __.____._ Copyright © 2011 Toolbox.com and message author. Toolbox.com 4343 N.
