ABAP is good for you.

SAP has its own java stack and there is a distinct lack of java talent (in the US at least). While it's true that SAP seems to be moving away from java a bit, there will be strong demand for anyone who understands both java and SAP's implementation of java and SAP's java applications (Portal, CRM, ESS, to name a few components that use java heavily). SAP's development environment is based off the open source Eclipse development environment, so if you have experience with that, you've got a leg up. SAP has a specific java curriculum but no specific java certification. Please check http://www.sap.com/services/education/catalog/netw eaver/java.epx ? Business Programming JAVA. Don't fixate on certifications, though. I don't know about India, but in the US, it would probably be possible to get an entry level job with a company running SAP as long as you can sell your java experience as being real. (not school projects) There are differences between various implementations of java, but you should be able to leverage what you know once you get a feel for the SAP specific tools. I think you might be able to get a free version of the SAP Netweaver Developer's Studio (SAP's java development environment) somewhere. Try googling it and see what comes up. I think SAP had some sort of learners kit for a nominal fee that included it at some point. SAP offers it's courses remotely over the internet, but they might not be cost competitive with the live teaching in India. You may be hard pressed to find a traditional SAP training school that will let you learn just the SAP java relevant courses. They're going to want you to take the full ABAP curriculum (which would be a waste in your case). If you feel you MUST get a certification, then DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE - SAP NETWEAVER PORTAL 7.01 is probably your best bet. Most of SAP's java development centers around the portal and since they don't have a certification specifically for java (even though they should) this is you next best bet. Hope this helps. Best of luck! Sincerely, --Tom | | __.____._ Copyright © 2011 Toolbox.com and message author. Toolbox.com 4343 N.
