Re: [sap-career] E-Learning Vs Classroom Training

Hi ,

Thanks all for the feedback. I do have a time constraint and hence I prefer
e-learning. Further if we are good enough we can still complete the course
and take the exam in less than 5 months as well.

Thanks again for the inputs . Shall come back for any clarifications.

Regards
Sathish

Subject: E-Learning Vs Classroom Training

Hi,

That question is very difficult to answer, as what works for one person will not work for other.

If you have love for books with plenty of time to spare go for E Learning. It's cost will be less than half of what will set you aback in instructor led training.

On the bright side you will have enough time to get a grasp of each topic with bright chances of clearing the certification in first attempt as you will be in a position to practice mock tests and revise each topic until you understand it thoroughly.

On the dark side there will be very less/no support for understanding concepts as you will have nothing else to count on except for books provided or your colleagues/friends. There is also a chance that a person can lose focus and interest midway as studying around 5 months without any help can be a daunting task.

Instructor led training has its own set of advantages,/disadvantages. The first disadvantage will be of course the amount of money that will have to shelled out, secondly when the training starts it will be like a 25 days 8 hours rapid fire round. People with a good / average understanding will be able to cope but those who take time to grasp will be at the receiving end. The instructor will have to pace his teaching as he has limited time to cover a syllabus. Every day new topics will be introduced, if something basic is missed in the beginning then that will trouble the candidate for the entire duration of the course. There will be no/little time to get a revision of a topic already completed.

On the positive side the instructor will be there to answer all your queries while explaining the topic, you will save around 3-4 months studying period. with ILT you are not likely to lose focus and will complete the course in given time-frame. Plus the experience of the instructor can definitely help for clearing the certification.

Regards,
Hemant
