It's a strange world we are come to, Roy! No one wants to earn anything any
more. It's all about instant gratification.

Back in my day, an ABAPer was considered senior after 5 years. I hit 5
years and I thought I knew it all... Today, I look at 5 year ABAPers (and I
was no different when I first got my 5 years) and think "WOW, you finally
are comfortable with the nuances of the language. Now we can start training
you in the real work..." Come 10 years, maybe you'll be a senior by my
standards...

The ABAP consultants that are in and out of here are largely a joke. They
don't know how to think for themselves. They don't know how to analyze.
Finally however, I have one that I can respect. He's better than I am...

I would say that 1 year is not enough. You need at least 5 years
experience in accounting and finance before thinking about a move to
SAP FI-CO. It is not a job for beginners - it is for experts. Let me
put it this way - could you configure electronic banking and payments
for a large company? Are you an expert on all aspects of VAT? Could
you put a product costing system into a major production facility, on
your own? Do you understand the differences between IFRS and US GAAP?
Could you write a training document for super users of the FI or CO
modules? These are a few of the daily challenges to FI-CO consultants
and that is why we earn the good money.

Some of my friends said at least for one year I have to get
experience in finance field, then I have to do SAP certification then
I can shift to SAP FI CO.

Can I know what is the initial pay scale for the fresher in SAP FI CO
field? I dont want to quit from my goal. My diploma in banking and
finance exams are going to be held in November? Do you have any idea
