Hi all. Everyone has mentioned his/her view on the subject. Here is my two cents. I infer from the posts the following: Nobody says that a fresher is in for doom and does not have a door open in the realm of SAP. It just says that business houses wanting to move to the SAP environment by investing astronomical sums of money are basically not interested in risking out on freshers who may not know their jobs. Instead well experienced professionals like Roy are preferred so that the business house gets its money's worth in short time and conducts good business. In order to be a chosen professional, one needs to be really well-experienced (one cannot achieve expertise with a 19 days' SAP course, one day's examination and a certificate) and I am sure everyone agrees with me on this count. What is required is sound knowledge of all business processes, expertise to translate the business processes in SAP lingo and acquisition of these things is a gradual process of evolution requiring much patience, devotion, some intelligence and some luck (of course!). As a teacher, I have observed that many SAP students nurture a feeling that they could/should become experienced consultants with19 days' training and make wads of money. While there is nothing wrong in maintaining such ambitions, many students (freshers) fail to see that employers' requirement are different (as mentioned above in the previous paragraph). SAP freshers must nurture patience to develop business skills and gain expertise, SAP skills to transliterate their business skills before going up the ladder. The probability of success rate is more if such freshers start at the bottom rung (maybe even start career as accounts clerk, work their way up to accountants, move to SAP as end users and work it up further) and gather expertise. It is an ongoing process requiring time and devotion and hard work. If ambitions are well focused, freshers can do well too in course of time. But freshers need to develop patience to listen to what experienced people such as Roy have to say. A positive outlook, a well planned approach, meticulous and focused hard work is sure to bring success in due course. I wish each and every fresher success. Regards, VidhyaDhar
