RE:[sap-career] Training Module Recommendations Based on Marketing Experience

We all have to start somewhere Roy and a career in SAP offers far better prospects than direct marketing.

I got into SAP when my employer wanted trainers from within the organisation to join a team of external consultants in order to ensure the training methods and content were suited to the organisation, rather than generic. I was initially going to concentrate on FICO training. I had 25 years training experience including IT and management accounting but nothing on SAP. I went to Clockhouse and did the relevant courses, then after the organisation's training was complete, moved into working with the configuration consultants, and when they eventually left worked as one of the in-house business and support analysts, eventually moving into SD as well as FICO and through the years with other employers expanding that into aspects of MM and integration with other modules. After 8 years working on SAP I now work as an independent contractor and consultant.

There is nothing to say that Savitha would expect to do some training and then try to work as a consultant! It is far more likely for anyone new to SAP to gain experience by working in a module as an end user for an appropriate company and then, eventually, gain enough knowledge after several years to move on if they wish.

And what do you mean SAP doesn't support direct sales? I have been working for organisations that both procure to sell and manufacture to sell, wholesale and retail, using SD, often combined with aspects of MM, and in doing so some of them use CRM to manage various aspects of their contact with customers.

A qualification in any aspect of SAP is certainly no magic ticket to a life of luxury but it is definitely a valid and valuable enhancement to anyone's CV if they want to progress in or redirect their career. Why shouldn't Savitha take the opportunity to do that? Why would you knock anyone wanting to improve their qualifications and prospects?

Subject: Training Module Recommendations Based on Marketing Experience

I have completed BE. I have 4 years of experience in marketing. My skills: Email Marketing, Lead Nurturing, Market Research, Lead Management, Campaign Management, fixing appointments for sales people, cold calling, developing business.

Would it best for me to get trained om SAP CRM Marketing or SAP SD? Which will suit my profile better?

Please reply.

Thanks,
savitha
