In my experience very few employers, including the consultancies, offer dedicated training prior to putting new employees on the job. When they hire you, they want you to start earning your money asap. Besides which, the learning you will gain on-the-job is more realistic and functional than any classroom training will be. What will make the difference is the quality of support you get while you are learning, and a good agency cannot afford to let you get it wrong and so hamper an implementation because they didn't give you that support. Go for it and learn as you work. None of us ever stops learning!

So here it goes: Do consulting companies usually give training to new hires before letting them work face-to-face with customers? If I was a client I would expect a consultancy firm to give some training to their freshers before billing me for hundreds of euros/day for them, would I not? On the other hand if I was offered a job as (junior) SAP consultant tomorrow, and there was no training I would turn it down straight away (at least I think now). Hm? What do you think?
