Hi,

Normally users talk to functional team rather than technical person(ABAP).
ABAPers, even if they have less exposure to functional areas, that is ok.
It's the duty of functional consultants to explain the business process
requirement
to ABAPers and get it done from ABAPers.

See, ABAPers may write programs for all the modules, then how one can
expect from ABAPers that they should know business processes of all modules.
That's why functional consultants roles are very much important to help
ABAPers.

Yes you can get into php without experience but SAP is a business
suite and knowledge of business processes is a must, otherwise you
will not understand a thing the users talk about and will be out in
short order.
