Re: [sap-career] Possibly switching from SAP CRM to SAP SD in India

I have said it before. SD is a core module of SAP that is absolutely essential in most implementations, while CRM is a "nice-to-have" bit of frippery bolted on the end. If you can get into SD with your knowledge and experience I would recommend that you do so forthwith. There will always be demand for SD consultants.

Subject: Possibly switching from SAP CRM to SAP SD in India

Greeting,
I am completing 2 years in my current job as a Associate Consultant (SAP CRM functional) with a small third party consulting company. I had signed a service bond for 2 years with a pittance salary. Now I am looking for change to get better compensation & diversified work exposure in SAP CRM.
I am really sad to see very few number of job openings for SAP CRM functional consultant (with 2 years of exp) at naukri & monsterindia.com (India job portals). In fact in last 60 days I have seen very few openings (with small companies @ pittance) for SAP CRM functional consultants (with 2 years of exp). I have already updated my resume at both the job portals but not even a single recruiter or HR consulting company has even visited my CV/Resume. It is making me really worried as I have not received even a single call for the interview in last 3 weeks. I don't understand why there is not good number of opening for SAP CRM functional consultants in India? Also, I have observed that there is more number of job openings for SAP SD module for the people with 2 years of experience. Few of my colleagues from SD module have already left the company & got double compensation of their current CTC.
I have worked closely with SD team & got good understanding of SD module while co-coordinating with SD guys. So I was wondering if it would be a good idea to get exposure of SAP SD module in my current job (self study/work) and then look for the SD jobs in 2-3 months as SD market seems more matured in India. I don't want to continue in my current organization as my financial obligations are increasing every passing year.
Please shed some light on my thought on acquiring SAP SD module knowledge (in 2-3 months) & moving to SD jobs (as more number of stable job opening are there in India).

Cordially,
Neeraj
